Dear Friends of the Marine Institute:

Renovations of the historic R. J. Reynolds theatre/lecture hall and courtyard apartments are well underway. Eventually a new dining hall and classroom facility will be located in the old Power Station. Besides improving the facility infrastructure, there is a renewed commitment to the ecological stewardship of Sapelo Island. Measures have been taken to lessen the vehicular impact on the island and we are looking into ways to utilize solar and wind energy systems to reduce heating and cooling expenses.
